What to Expect

During your initial visit to Cornerstone Chiropractic Center we will first perform a consultation to determine your needs and address any concerns. We will then continue with a comprehensive exam including Orthopedic Tests, Range of Motion, Palpation and Motion Study X-Rays – if necessary. The Motion Study X-Rays will show us which vertebrae in your spine are working properly and which ones may need treatment.

I’ve heard that if I see a Chiropractor once, I’ll have to see a Chiropractor forever. Is that true?

No, this isn’t true. Just like going to the Dentist, your spinal health is YOUR CHOICE. It’s a good idea to maintain the health of your spine, just like your teeth. We will never recommend more care than is needed or wanted.

I’ve heard loud cracking noises when patients are being adjusted. Is this their bones cracking?

This is a common misconception. The truth of the matter is – its not bones that you’re hearing “pop” or “crack.” The sound you’re hearing is actually gas bubbles popping when you move a stuck joint. When a joint becomes restricted, nitrogen gas bubbles build up within that joint. When the joint is moved those bubbles pop or release.

Will it hurt?

Adjustments should never hurt. They may feel weird or uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t be a painful experience. Chiropractic adjustments are very gentle, specific and rely on speed rather than force.

Is a Chiropractor a REAL DOCTOR?

Yes, Chiropractors are real Doctors! Instead of focusing on medicine, their training is specific to the spine and nervous system.

What if I come in for an exam and you find that you’re not able to treat my condition?

If this is the case we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare practitioner.

Should my child get adjusted?

Chiropractic care has been proven to be safe and effective for children of all ages. Our spinal health should be maintained from birth. It’s easier to prevent a problem from happening than it is to fix the problem later on.

I’m pregnant, is it possible for me to get adjusted? Will it hurt the baby?

Not only is it possible for you to get adjusted, it is beneficial and, in some cases, necessary for a woman to get adjusted during pregnancy. Women that have been adjusted throughout their pregnancies have been shown to have easier and less painful deliveries.

Do you take my insurance?

Most insurance policies cover Chiropractic Care. Each individual insurance policy may be different, which is why we provide complimentary insurance verification as part of every new patient appointment. We will go over your individual policy with you so that you understand exactly how it can contribute to your care.

I don’t have insurance, is this something I can afford?

We will work with you to come up with an affordable payment option that best suits your needs.
